# Set up two-step verification

With two-step verification you need a code from an authenticator app in addition to your password to sign in. This better protects your books.

## Set it up

1. Go to **Settings** > **Account & security**.
2. Under **Two-step verification**, click **Manage**.
3. Click **Set up authenticator**.
4. Give your phone a name under **Device name** and click **Generate QR code**.
5. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (for example Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy). Can't scan? Enter the manual setup code in your app.
6. Enter the 6-digit code and click **Verify and enable**.

The status now shows **Enabled**.

## Signing in with two-step verification

After your password you'll see **Enter your verification code**. Open your authenticator app, enter the latest 6-digit code and click **Verify and continue**.

## Good to know

- Use **Manage** to add another device or remove one.
- Never share your verification code. Booko support will never ask for a verification code, login code or password in chat.

## Still stuck?

- Code not accepted? Make sure your phone sets its time automatically and use the latest code.
- Lost your phone, or a new phone without your authenticator app? You can't sign in yourself. Ask for a colleague in the chat; they will help you further. Don't send codes in the chat.
